The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation is one of the first things people look for when seeking a financial planner. CFP® professionals must adhere to standards of practice. For example, CFP® professionals are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education (CE) each 2 year reporting period. This typically consists of 2 hours of CFP Board approved Ethics CE and 28 hours of CE covering 1 or more of CFP Board’s Principal Topics. The continuing education requirement is effective immediately upon initial certification, or 12 months after successful completion of the CFP® examination if the Experience and/or Degree requirements have not been met.
The LIVE PLAN THRIVE project was created to deliver continuing education resources for CFP® professionals. Financial planners and financial coaches currently have access to the LivePlanThrive.com website with a growing lineup of courses currently being offered for free. You can learn about relevant topics related to financial psychology, behavioral finance, life planning, and financial wellness. Courses are designed and delivered by Dr. Scott Spann and other leading experts and practitioners in the financial planning and financial wellness professions.
